The 2022 NFL season has reached its midway point and, so far, there has been plenty of talking points. The Miami Dolphins are enjoying a resurgence unlike anything fans of the team have seen in years. Courtesy of the brilliance of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the Florida-based franchise sits at the top of the AFC East and looks on course to qualify for the playoffs for just the second time in the last 20 years.
Reigning Super Bowl champions the Los Angeles Rams are enduring a torrid season. Cooper Kupp’s last-gasp touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in February secured them the Lombardi trophy for just the second time in franchise history. However, their defense of the trophy has been disastrous.
Finally, the Buffalo Bills may be set to end decades of hurt. They lost four consecutive Super Bowls between 1990 and 1993, and they hadn’t come close to qualifying for the big game since. But this season, OddsChecker, which compares NFL odds and offers, had made them the favorites to lift the famous trophy for the first time in their history. And thus far, they haven’t disappointed. They remain on course for a third consecutive playoff appearance, and who knows where beyond that.
On any given Sunday, there is far too much going on at any one time to keep up with all the action. That’s why your smartphone and its app store are two of the most important assets when enjoying the weekend’s football action. As a partner of any NFL fan will tell you, despite watching the game right in front of their eyes, their phone is never out of their hands for the duration of the game. Here are the apps every fan uses when cheering on their team.
The first and possibly most important app when the game is on is Twitter. The social media giant has been a very contentious subject ever since Elon Musk’s recent takeover of the company. The South African billionaire has reportedly been laying off staff left, right and center, as well as restoring controversial accounts such as Andrew Tate, Donald Trump and Kanye West.
Regardless of your feelings on Mr. Musk and his business decisions, the point remains that there is no finer app than Twitter when you’re watching the NFL. The app allows you to keep up to date with all of the matches from around the country, even providing you score updates and highlights as they happen. Following accounts such as @nfl, @nflnetwork, @NFLonFOX and @ESPNNFL, you will have the opinions of all your favorite experts and pundits right at your fingertips.
As well as that, using hashtags will allow you to join the discussion online. So, as well as read other people’s opinions, you can put your own opinion on the games out there to the masses. Then let’s not forget the memes, which you simply can’t miss.
YouTube
YouTube has been a staple in our lives for a number of years now. The website was launched back in 2005 and in recent years has gone from strength to strength. The streaming site is the best place to go for all NFL highlights and has both extended and shortened clips available as soon as the final whistle is blown.
Admittedly, Twitter does have the highlights as the matches are ongoing, but they tend to be shorter and more bitesize. Instead, YouTube has an in-depth review of the game, which is exactly what you want once all of the matches on a Sunday afternoon have concluded.
As well as that, there are a number of podcasts and review shows available on YouTube. So if the matches themselves didn’t give you the footballing fix that you needed, then watching either of those shortly after should get the job done.
