The advancements in technology have completely changed how we do things. Whether it is entertainment, connecting with friends and family, or even work, technology has revolutionized our way of life.

Thanks to technological advancements, we have seen the introduction of tables. Apart from offering an extra-ordinary gaming experience, tablets have changed the way we market and manage our businesses. Compared to laptops and other computer devices, tablets are lightweight. As such, you can carry them wherever you are, making it a handy business tool.

Read along to learn how you can use tablets as a point of sale and ultimately boost your sales.

What Do You Need to Turn Your iPad into a Point of Sale System?

Advanced tablets such as an iPad allow retailers to use their tablets as a traditional point of sale. However, to do this, there are some additional hardware you should buy. Ideally, you will need a tablet, POS app, card reader, stand, among other things.

An iPad or Any Similar Tablet

Obviously, the first need you will need is to invest in a quality tablet. If you like most people, then an iPad will come in handy. While you can get a tablet from the POS service providers, you may want to buy your device separately as well.

Among other things, buying your tablet will help lower the overall cost. It also allows you to choose a device with features that work better for you, such as memory capacity and battery life.

POS Mobile App

You’ll also need a POS mobile app to be able to set up a POS system. This is especially the case if you plan to buy your tablet separately. Ideally, if the POS providers are providing the tablet, they’ll likely have everything set up for you. Others will guide on how to set it up easily.

In some cases, you might need extra equipment, including a cash-drawer, table-top stand, a printer, etc.

Tablet/iPad Stand

A tablet or an iPad stand will also come in handy. Ideally, consider a tablet stand that can rotate all around when attending to customers.

Printer

One of the benefits of using tablets in your POS system is that it allows retailers to send receipts to customers through email. Even so, some retailers like to print receipts themselves.

If that’s the case, then you will need to invest in a printer. While you can incorporate printers into your system, some will prefer to use third-party printers.

Whichever the case, ensure to choose a quality receipt print for quicker results. It is also advisable to use one printer for each tablet.

Internet

Your POS system will also require the internet to function efficiently. If there’s no Wi-Fi in your place, consider using hotpot. However, while doing this, keep in mind your POS system. Ideally, your POS system should inform your choice of internet.

Credit Card Reader

Depending on your business needs, you’ll also need to choose a credit card reader. Also, since readers don’t work with any POS system, it is essential to consider your POS system before choosing a reader.

Most common readers allow readers to plug the card reader into your device’s USB port. Others are part of an all-in-one terminal fitting.

You can also decide to buy more advanced devices that allow for Android pay, Samsung pay, Apple Pay, and other mobile payments.

Cash Drawer

If your business accepts cash, then you may want to have a cash drawer. Ideally, this will be connected to your device through a USB cord or a wireless connection.

Benefits of Using Tablets as a Point of Sale

With the increased popularity of tablets as a point of sale system, you may be forgiven to think that tablets will determine the direction that the retail sector is headed. Apart from being lightweight, tablets are easy to customize. As such, they allow retailers to operate their businesses from anywhere. To that end, here’s how you can benefit from a tablet POS system:

Saves Times

No matter the type of business you’re doing, a tablet-based POS system will come in handy. This is regardless of whether you’re in retail or a large scale enterprise. The best thing is that it allows for speedy delivery, which is vital for any business.

Promotes Efficiency

Apart from providing speedy delivery, a tablet-based POS system will enhance efficiency as well. The best thing is that this system is easy to use. Ideally, it will only take a few minutes to train your staff on how to operate the POS system. After that, your staffer can use the system to check the inventory no matter where their location. This way, they won’t waste countless hours counting stock.
