Meta constantly updates Whatsapp to better how we communicate. The latest upgrade improves how you organize and search your chats.
After a previous update allowed us to pin messages, Mark Zuckerberg has now introduced a new feature: special chat filters.
These filters help you quickly find certain conversations in your chat history, especially if you have several active chats.
Right now, there are two filters available:
Unread: Ideal for checking messages you haven’t seen yet. It shows all your chats with unread messages, making it easier to respond and clear those notification alerts.
Groups: Great for locating an important group chat. Just one click lets you view all your group conversations at once.
This allows fast access to talks with family, friends, coworkers, or any other groups you belong to. It covers subgroups within Communities too, giving you a single spot for all your group discussions.
Before, to find unread chats, you had to use the search bar and sort by message status. This method worked but needed extra steps.
The new “Unread” filter removes these additional steps, making filter options easily accessible right at the top of your chat list. This change is a big help for users who handle many chats and need a faster way to spot conversations that need their response.
The “Groups” filter solves a common problem for WhatsApp users. Many who are in many group chats find it hard and slow to look through their chat lists to find certain groups.
WaBetaInfo, the first to report this news, mentions that users have highly requested the ability to filter group chats.
If you want to use this feature, ensure your WhatsApp is updated on your Android or iOS device. You can update it from the App Store or Google Play Store.
These filters are a good improvement, based on user feedback, and it’s great to see them in use.
What we think?
I think the new WhatsApp filters will make chatting easier and quicker. Now, I can find unread messages or group chats without searching too much.
This is great because it saves time, especially when I’m busy. The “Unread” and “Groups” filters seem very useful for keeping track of many messages. I’m happy WhatsApp keeps updating based on what we need.
