Videos on YouTube viewed via Meta Quest might now appear clearer because the app allows for streaming in 8K quality.
The Meta Quest series offers affordable and content-rich virtual reality headsets, with YouTube available on the platform for a while.
Recently, in a quiet update, YouTube for Meta Quest started supporting higher resolution videos.
Android Central noted that version 1.54 of YouTube for Quest can now stream 8K video.
However, this is limited to SDR format, which is a significant compromise. Still, this upgrade allows for clearer content on VR headsets.
Although there isn’t much 8K content available, any increase in resolution enhances the VR experience because the images are very close to your eyes.
Android Central’s Nick Sutrich mentioned that the quality difference between 4K and 8K content is clearly visible.
In the video resolution settings, 8K videos are listed as “4320p.”
What we think?
I think that the new 8K video streaming on Meta Quest will make VR videos much clearer.
Even though there’s not a lot of 8K content yet, any improvement in resolution is great because VR screens are so close to our eyes.
Watching videos in 8K will likely show a big difference from 4K, making everything look sharper and more detailed. This is exciting for VR fans!
