Images and prices for the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) have surfaced online before their official launch this month, appearing to come from official channels. These leaks could also help explain a previous teaser about the products.
So far, the transparent design has been a major feature of the Nothing brand. It looks like the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) will continue this trend.
Images leaked by Android Headlines reveal both pairs of earbuds have the familiar square case and clear design like previous Nothing earbuds, but with a few minor changes.
A notable new feature is a supposed new color option. The Ear (a) is not just presented with a smaller case, but also comes in yellow. The back of the case has a yellow piece, and the part of the earbuds that fits in your ear is also yellow.
This specific yellow color is very similar to the well-liked Playdate gaming device. This might be why Nothing’s earlier hint about the new earbuds mentioned a “Play Date” and showed a yellow frog. Panic, the maker of Playdate, has stated they don’t know what this hint is about.
It’s not clear how serious the possible collaboration might be, but it looks interesting.
However, the main headline is about the cost.
Based on the leak, the Nothing Ear will be priced at €150, the same as the Ear (2), and the Ear (a) will cost €100. Both earbud models are water-resistant (IP54), have noise cancellation, and boast strong battery performance.
The Ear can go up to 33 hours without noise cancellation when you include the charging case, whereas the Ear (a) can last even longer, up to 38 hours in the same conditions.
The new earbuds from Nothing are scheduled to be released on April 18.
What we think?
I think the new Nothing Ear and Ear (a) earbuds will be cool. They look clear and have a new yellow color that reminds me of the Playdate game.
They will cost a bit, but seem worth it for their long battery life and features like water resistance and noise cancellation. I’m excited to see them when they come out on April 18.
