Vivo showcased its X20 UD smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner at CES 2018, and later the company unveiled similar smartphone to the Chinese market as X21. Now, the company launched a new variant of the phone in the form of X21i in the region.

The Vivo X21i features a 6.28-inch Super AMOLED screen at a 1080 x 2280 resolution with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and notch cut out. It will run on Android 8.1 Oreo with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.0 over the top but no word on Android P. Though, Vivo already made available the Android P beta for the standard X21 model.

Vivo X21i

The handset runs on the octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, which has 4 x Cortex A73 and 4 x Cortex A53 cores, both clocking at 2GHz. It’s paired with the Mali-G72MP3 GPU, 4 or 6GB of RAM with 64 and 128GB of internal storage. The Vivo X21, on the other hand, running on the Snapdragon 660 that has 4 x Kryo 260 and 4 x Kryo 260 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 1.8GHz respectively.

On the photography front, Vivo X21i sports a 12MP + 5MP dual-lens camera and a 24MP front camera equipped with face unlock that scans 1024 facial features. The only significant difference between Vivo’s X21 and the new phone is that the X21 has a dual rear camera with 12MP and 5MP sensors along with the 12MP front shooter. However, both the models equipped with features such as AI scene recognition, AI selfie, AI Beauty Technology, and real-time HDR modes.

Vivo X21i

The X21i is packed with 3245mAh battery that should ideally last one day, whereas X21 has 3200mAh battery onboard. Unlike the X21’s In-display fingerprint scanner, the X21i is only having a traditional fingerprint sensor on the back.

Vivo X21i

The Vivo X21i is now up for pre-order at 2698 yuan ($420) for the 4GB/128GB and 6GB/64GB variants. It comes in Black, Ruby Red and Aurora White colours and will officially go on sale on May 19.
