The Honor 10, which made its debut last month in China, unveiled at a global event in London today. The flagship handset comes with a notch cut out on the front with thin bezels, and a gorgeous design. It’s also powered by the world’s most powerful HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset with the neural processing unit (NPU), most recently seen in the Huawei’s P20 series.
The device sports a 5.84-inch FullView display with a FHD+ (1,080 x 2,240 pixels) resolution. Even though the display has a 19:9 aspect ratio, it has a bottom bezel big enough for Honor to include an under glass ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. It comes in two variants, one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and another with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, though it’s non-expandable.
Despite dropping the Leica branding when compared to the P20 series, the Honor 10’s cameras are still impressive. It features 16MP (RGB) + 24MP (monochrome) sensors on the rear with the support for AI Portraits and AI Scene Recognization. Those are complemented by a 24MP shooter on the front that the Honor 10 will use for AI beautification and face recognition, as well as snapping selfies.
Rounding out the spec sheet is a 3,400 mAh battery with fast charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 skin on top. The highlight of the new flagship smartphone from Honor is its 3D glass design, which constructed from 15 different layers of glass with a nano-scale optical coating for a prismatic effect that shifts between different colour shades. The Phantom Blue variant switches between different shades of blue and purple from different angles, while the Phantom Green has been designed to arouse the blue and green hues of the aurora borealis.
