The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are the latest models in the Samsung’s Galaxy S line of high-end smartphones. As previously promised, both the handsets have been officially launched in India today. These were introduced at the MWC 2018 last week, offering few essential features for the Indian market such as headphone jack and Hybrid Dual SIM slot. The Galaxy S9 series is improved a little over the S8 family, and the Galaxy S9 Plus was a great phone for those who wanted something a little larger. The dual aperture camera is the major highlight in S9 Plus, though the S9 and S9 Plus have a few more differences around the board.
While the display size and form factor are the same as last year, Samsung says these displays are 15 percent brighter than the Galaxy S8 family. The Galaxy S9 has a 5.8-inch QHD+ Curved Super AMOLED Infinity display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Galaxy S9 Plus has the similar display and aspect ratio, but measures at 6.2 inches. The S9 series also powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor and brings Gigabit LTE support. The Galaxy S9 comes with 4GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S9 Plus has 6GB of RAM. Both come in 64GB and 256GB of internal storages, which can be expanded by up to 400GB using a microSD card. To be noted, the 128GB model isn’t coming to India as of now.
The Galaxy S9 camera features the same hardware as the Galaxy S8 with a 12-megapixel dual pixel sensor and optical image stabilization. The Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a similar dual-camera setup found on the Galaxy Note 8 but adds a variable-aperture lens on the primary camera. In brighter conditions, the camera uses a slower F2.4 aperture value for optimized detail and sharpness. In dim conditions, it switches to a very fast F1.5 aperture to maximize light capture. To achieve this, Samsung engineers have equipped the S9 Plus with a mechanical lens that opens and closes. Additionally, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus offer 720p super slow-motion video at 960 fps and 8MP front-facing cameras with f/1.7 aperture. Apart from the cameras, the Galaxy S9 phones also bring a series of other improvements to Bixby, connectivity, and security. Here you can check out more details.
