After launching the Redmi Note 5A in China back in August, Xiaomi has just launched its new Redmi series smartphone called Redmi 5A. The budget smartphone from the company features a 5-inch IPS HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9.
It is powered by a 1.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. However, you can expand the storage with a microSD card slot up to 128GB. On the back, the device sports a 13-megapixel (F2.2) camera with PDAF and LED Flash. There’s also included 5-megapixel (F2.0) shooter at up front for selfies.
The Redmi 5A also boasts a polycarbonate unibody design with an Infrared sensor and a hybrid dual SIM slot. The smartphone is backed by a 3000mAh battery and offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and GLONASS connectivity options.
Priced at 599 yuan (about $90), the Redmi 5A comes in three colours — Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Rose Gold. The smartphone will go on sale in China starting October 17.
