Apple today unveiled Apple Watch Series 3 during its September special event. The Apple Watch Series 3 comes in two models, one with built-in GPS and cellular, and another one with built-in GPS only. The third-generation Apple Watch is powered by a faster dual-core processor and new wireless chip. Series 3 also features a barometric altimeter that helps you in tracking activities like flights climbed and outdoor workouts, including elevation gain. The new gen Apple Watch is a perfect blend of health and fitness companion with intelligent coaching features and comes with water resistance of up to 50 meters.
Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) allows you to make calls, receive texts and more, without connecting to iPhone. It features an LTE and UMTS cellular radio that uses built-in electronic SIM (eSIM) to connect to cellular when it is away from iPhone. More interestingly, the Apple watch 3 shares the same phone number as your current iPhone, so there’s no need to provide an additional number to family, friends or colleagues. Apple also creates the engineering wonder with a new antenna design in that uses the display itself as both a transmitting and receiving element for LTE and UMTS.
The brand new Apple designed custom wireless chip called W2, making Wi-Fi 85% faster and Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi 50% more power efficient. Later this fall, Apple Watch Series 3 will allow Apple Music users to stream 40 million songs right from their wrist, and for the first time, enables Siri to speak using the built-in speaker. The redesigned Radio app also enables listeners to access Beats 1 live or any other Apple Music radio station while away from iPhone or Wi-Fi.
Both the third generation Apple Watch models run on watchOS 4 that features an updated Heart Rate app called Apple heart study for even more insight to heart rate, including measurements during resting, recovery, workout, walking and Breathe sessions. In addition, the LTE enabled Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) customers have not only the ability to make cellular calls but also enjoy a seamless and fully wireless experience when paired with AirPods.
Apple promises up to 18h of battery life with Watch Series 3. However, you can charge the Watch Series 3 with its regular charger alongside Apple’s wireless charger called ‘Air Power mat’ which will be available sometime in 2018.
Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) starts at $399, while the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) starts at $329 in the USA.
