Two years after the introduction of the current Apple TV and tvOS, we’re witnessing the launch of the 5th-gen Apple TV during company’s special launch event. Dubbed as Apple TV 4K, the next gen Apple TV designed to deliver a stunning cinematic experience at home. Apple TV features both 4K and HDR (High Dynamic Range) for sharp, richer, crisp images, more true-to-life colours, and far better detail in both bright and dark scenes.
Similar to iPad Pro, the Apple TV 4K is powered by A10X Fusion chip which delivers 4x CPU performance compared to the previous model. With Apple TV 4K, viewers can watch popular 4K HDR movies on iTunes, and the company is going to offer 4k movies same price as HD on iTunes. In addition, iTunes users will get automatic upgrades of HD titles in their existing iTunes library to 4K HDR versions at no additional charge. To make things more exciting, Apple TV 4K will also offer 4K HDR content from popular VOD services, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video very soon.

The company also redesigned the Siri Remote with a new white circle around the “menu” button. The updated TV app brings all your favourite shows and movies together, and Siri makes it possible to discover and watch TV shows and movies from multiple apps in one place. Later this year, the Apple TV app is making it easier than ever to watch and get updates about live sports using just your voice. Moreover, the Apple TV app will expand to seven additional countries by the end of the year which includes Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the UK.
With the latest version of tvOS, you can download great apps from App Store on Apple TV and also share photos as well as videos from your iPhone or iPad on the biggest screen, with iCloud on Apple TV. Besides you can simply send movies, TV shows, home videos and photos from iPhone or iPad instantly to the Apple TV using AirPlay from your iOS devices. There’s also AirPlay 2 feature coming later this year, with that Apple TV can control multiple AirPlay 2-compatible speakers as well as your home theatre speakers to create the ultimate home music experience.
Apple TV 4K starts at $179 for 32GB and $199 for 64GB models in USA. It’ll be available for pre-order from Apple online store and Apple Stores, as well as through select Apple Authorized Resellers and carriers from September 15, with the actual availability beginning from September 22. Apple has also slashed the Apple TV (4th gen) 32GB model price to $249 in the USA.
