Google has released Android 7.1 Nougat Developer Preview for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Pixel C just a day before Pixel smartphones are scheduled to go on sale. The Pixel and Pixel XL are the world’s first phones to run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. It’s an incremental update but still it packs major features including Apple’s 3D Touch like functionality, which will be integrated into core Android operating system. Apple has to add in-house designed Touch layer to enable 3D Touch, but Google has achieved it with a simple long press.
The Nexus and Pixel owners, who already joined in Android Beta Preview program, should get the OTA update. If not, Google has posted full factory images on Android developer website. You can download and flash manually. Moreover, you can also download corresponding OTA file and flash it to bring the latest features. The flashing process, in this case, should be done via ADB Sideload.

- Pixel and Pixel XL receives OTA updates right out of the box; Google promised updates until 2018
Again, users won’t see any massive changes in the UI and don’t expect the Pixel launcher with this update. Although, it will bring many fixes to the system. If you are interested, you can go ahead and download developer preview images from here.
