Honor, at an event in China today, announced Honor 6X mid-range smartphone with Dual camera setup. However, the event didn’t end just with that as new Media Pad 2 tablet, and Watch S1 also introduced. To simply say, the tablet targets the mid-range buyers with its strictly mid-range specs sheet and the Watch S1 will enable the smartwatch experience for many consumers with just a little investment. Here is what you need to know about them.
Honor Media Pad 2:
Don’t be confused with parental company Huawei’s Media Pad M3, which targets high-end tablet territory while the Honor Media Pad 2 is designed and developed by Huawei’s subsidiary Honor. Yes, we agree that sharing the design language is fine between both companies but sharing the same branding? It may not be a good move. The 8-inch tablet packs 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution. The display is IPS variety so that you can expect pretty true-to-life colors. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC, Adreno 405 GPU, and 3GB of RAM. The SoC comes with eight Cortex-A53 cores that are being arranged in big.LITTLE architecture (4×1.5GHz + 4×1.2GHz). It offers either 16GB or 32GB storage. The tablet boots into Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top.
Honor has blessed it with fairly low-end camera combo – 8MP rear and 2MP front shooter. Users can buy WiFi only or SIM-enabled versions. Surprisingly but strangely, the cellular version does support voice calls, who wants to use 8” tablet as a phone? I certainly don’t do. It has packed decently sized 4800mAh battery under the hood to deliver one-day battery life or even more based on your usage.
Pricing & Availability:
The Honor Media Pad 2 comes in White color with Gold accented trim, which runs around the device. You can choose either 16GB WiFi, only model for CNY 999 (~US 150) or 32GB WiFi only model for CNY 1299 (~US 194). There is one more 32GB LTE model also available for CNY 1499 (~223).
Users can go ahead and pre-order the tablet starting October 19th in China, and the availability across the country will start from October 25th. Honor is yet to announce its global plans for this tablet.

- Honor 6X is official: 5.5″ display, Dual Camera Setup, Metal Unibody Design
Honor Watch S1:
If you are in the market for an affordable smartwatch, the Honor’s latest Watch S1 could be a better option. It looks like a typical sports watch because it targets fitness enthusiasts. However, it comes with the circular dial and 18mm interchangeable straps. You can simply change the strap to bring brand new look for your Watch S1 just like any other smartwatch out there.
It features dust/water resistance for up to 50 meters and also sports heart rate monitor, step counter, and other typical sensors to calculate a variety of fitness activities. Moreover, it can sync with a wide range of honor smartphones and probably work with any other Android smartphone (but the details are pretty scarce for now) to show a log of your fitness activities. You can control the calls, messages and you can also be notified when you get a new notification. Honor promises up to 6 hours of battery life, which is impressive for a low-end smartwatch. The company managed to pack all this tech within a package that weighs just 35 grams.
Pricing & Availability:
The Honor Watch S1 will be available with Silver circular dial frame, which houses display with a thick Black bar around it. However, you will have the option to interchange the strap, and there will bunch of color options available – Black, Blue, and Orange. The smartwatch has been priced at CNY 699 (~USD 104). Just like Honor Media Pad 2, it will also be available in China on October 25th with pre-order date slated for October 19th. There are absolutely no details available about the global expansion.
